After Your Eye Surgery

You can expect to spend approximately 15 to 30 minutes in the recovery/post-anesthesia care unit after your eye surgery, depending upon the type of anesthesia you receive. After you awaken and your condition is assessed, your family member or friend will be allowed to rejoin you. Please limit family guests to two or three so we may focus on caring for you after your eye surgery.

The nurses in this area will give you instructions for taking care of yourself at home. Should problems arise while you are recovering from your eye surgery at home, we recommend that you call your physician at (605) 336-6294, or toll-free at (800) 888-1433. If unavailable, ask to speak to a member of the eye surgery center staff.

Important:

If an emergency arises after normal business hours, please call your doctor or go directly to your local emergency room. Ask emergency room personnel to contact your doctor.

Information for Family Members and Friends

When we take our patient into surgery, please remain in Ophthalmology LTD Eye Surgery Center’s waiting area, as many of our eye surgeons visit with the family and friends after surgery. If you must leave, check with personnel at the front desk.
